Glencar Lake is situated in a beautiful, picturesque valley on the Sligo/Leitrim border. The lake has a resident stock of small brown trout and gets a good run of sea trout and salmon.
Colgagh Lake holds a good stock of brown trout and has,on occasion, produced trout in excess of 2.5kg. It is best fished early in the year. Permission is not generally required but public access to this lake is limited and permission of the relevant land owner should be sought where appropriate.
Lough Arrow is one of the outstanding brown trout fisheries in Ireland. It is famous for the quality of its trout which average 0.7kg, although fish up to 3.5kg are a possibility due to the rich feeding in this very productive limestone water. The lough lies 24 kilometres south east of Sligo town and 6.5 kilometres north of Boyle, Co Roscommon. There is public access for boats at Brick Pier on the eastern shore, Ballinafad Pier on the southern shore and Rinn Ban Pier on the western shore. The lake is well serviced with guides ghillies, and boats available for hire from several sources. Lough Na Leibe (or L Labe ) is a spring fed mountain lake situated between Ballymote and Castlebaldwin. It is stocked with rainbow trout and is set in a beautiful, tranquil Location.
